Better for Our Associations
As testament to our dedication to ensuring our accreditations demonstrate our full commitment to ensuring our clients can rely on our service, we have now upgraded our ISO and accreditations to those issued by UKAS. The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the sole national accreditation body recognised by the British government to assess the competence of organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
British Institute of Cleaning Science
We are proud to be Corporate Members of the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc), the largest independent, professional and educational body within the cleaning industry, with over 5,000 individual and corporate members. Its mission is both to raise the standards of education in the cleaning industry, and to build awareness, through professional standards and accredited training, thereby:
Formed in 1961, the BICSc was initially set up to raise the profile of the cleaning industry as a profession, and then went on to establish educational standards within the industry. Over the years, the services and training provided by the BICSc have evolved to reflect changes and developments within the sector. Total Clean are always among the first to adopt new standards and methodologies as they benefit our clients and therefore our business as a whole.

ISO Environmental Management Policy
ISO 14001 Environment Management System standard was first published in 1996. It is an internationally recognised system for managing the immediate and long-term environmental impacts of an organisation’s products, services and processes. ISO 14001 is part of the ISO 14000 series and is the cornerstone of the family of standards. It provides a framework for environmental management best practice to help organisations:

ISO Quality Management Policy
ISO 9001 provides a set of standardised requirements for a Quality Management System. Globally, over one million organisations are currently certified to this standard, meaning it is the leader not only in quality management systems, but within all management systems. The overall objective of the standard is to help companies meet statutory and regulatory requirements relating to the service while achieving excellence within their customer service and delivery.

UKAS 45001 Health & Safety Management System
UKAS 45001 is an ISO standard for management systems of occupational health and safety (OHS), published in March 2018. The goal of ISO 45001 is the reduction of occupational injuries and diseases, including promoting and protecting physical and mental health. This helps businesses to:

CO2 Balance
CO2 Balance offers carbon footprint calculation, carbon management and reduction services and an ethical way to offset greenhouse gas emissions through Gold Standard energy efficiency projects. Total Clean subscribes to CO2 Balance as a voluntary extension to its environmental policies – a commitment to reducing our environmental impact is a key principle with this offsetting scheme.
On an annual basis, Total Clean completes an audit and a Greenhouse Gas audit report is generated, including a number of suggestions on how to reduce our impact. Total Clean is then certified as ‘CarbonZero’ for at least a year, and the assessed levels of greenhouse gases are offset by the projects undertaken by CO2 Balance on a global scale.

The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS)
Assessing suppliers’ health and safety competence can be a lengthy and time-consuming process. Suppliers can sometimes meet one buyer’s Health and Safety standards but not another. Being CHAS approved reduces duplication, as suppliers’ compliance is accepted by all CHAS buyers.
Total Clean has been assessed and approved by CHAS, thus demonstrating that we comply with the core criteria of health and safety law, and are approved to work for all CHAS buyers.

Infection Prevention Solutions
Total Clean has completed a Cleaning Partnership Programme with Infection Prevention Solutions, ensuring we fully understand the complexities of cleaning in different healthcare settings. Our cleaning operatives are trained by qualified Infection Control Nurses, providing them with the knowledge necessary to minimise the spread of infection through a healthcare environment. All our cleaning services and healthcare cleaning staff are monitored by Infection Control Cleaning Management on behalf of Infection Prevention Solutions, who undertake Environmental Cleanliness Audits and ATP swab testing at regular intervals.
