12 Christmas Cleaning Tips

12 Christmas Cleaning Tips

Christmas is nearly here and if you haven’t already then it is time to start cleaning for the important day. Here are 12 festive tips to help you with your festive cleaning!

  1. If you have a Real Christmas tree make sure you keep it hydrated as this reduces the number of needles dropping.
  2. Sprinkle a thin layer of salt across the chopping board, cut a lemon in half, and scrub for two to three minutes. Once you've done this, soak the chopping board in hot water with the juice from the other half of the lemon for five minutes.
  3. Remove any chocolate stains, mix one tablespoon of dishwashing detergent with two cups of cold water and dip a cloth into it. Begin to rub the stained area. With every dab, make sure you clean the cloth in the solution to avoid the stain spreading.
  4. For stubborn grease stains prepare a thick paste of salt and cold water. Apply it onto the stain. Let it stay like about 10-20 minutes. Then wipe clean with a cloth.
  5. You can quickly steam your clothes by putting them in a tumble dryer with 3-4 ice cubes and starting a short programme.
  6. Use the unwanted or already used wrapping paper at the entrances of your home, this is will reduce the amount of water and mud being carried into your home.
  7. If there is loads of pet hair lying around but you don’t have a lint roller, use some sellotape around your hand and gather the hair that way.
  8. If you need to clean a cast iron skillet pour some coarse salt into the cast iron pan and use half a potato to rub it in until that mess has broken up and can be rinsed off.
  9. Remove permanent marker with toothpaste by rubbing it in a circular motion and a damp cloth.
  10. If someone accidentally breaks some glass, carefully remove all the big pieces and dispose of them, then use a slice of bread and press down to gather all the smaller bits of glass.
  11. To get rid of unwanted smells. Simmer a half dozen lemon slices and a handful of cloves in a pan of water.
  12. If you have any cloudy glasses use some white vinegar and bathe the glasses for 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes use baking soda on any other cloudy spots and rub. After this rinse clean and dry the glasses with a microfibre cloth.

Hopefully, all these tips will help you have a sparkling Christmas! From us all at Total Clean, Merry Christmas!
