Bathroom innovators Kohler claim they could help people get a better night’s – with a glow-in-the-dark toilet seat.
We’ve all been there, it’s pitch-dark, the curtains are shut and just as you’re drifting off, you think it best to answer nature’s call to ensure a solid nights sleep.
Your feet hit the carpet, you skilfully avoid the corner of the bed (and dodge the sleeping cat), open the bathroom door and – click – the force of a thousand suns hits your dreary eyeballs and leaves you feeling like Nosferatu.
Needless to say, when your head hits the pillow again, your retinas have been sufficiently scorched and that hard-fought cloud of sleepiness has been lifted.
Thankfully, Kohler have just the thing for sufferers of temperamental bladders and sleeping patterns. nightlight.
“Nightlight helps guide you safely and comfortably, even on the darkest nights,” Kohler’s press release said. “It’s perfect for kids, seniors, or anyone who needs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.”
A duel LED bank system firstly guides users into the bathroom and then provides a ‘task light’ for male users, all using low-light blue LEDs that won’t disturb the eyes.
“Typically overhead lights are bright because daytime tasks call for well-lit spaces. But accessing the bathroom at night is a different story,’ said Jerry Bougher, marketing manager for Kohler toilet seats.
“One of the fastest ways to ruin your chances of getting back to sleep easily is to turn on a harsh, bright overhead light in the bathroom. The Nightlight toilet seat offers a soft, non-disruptive alternative.”
Rather than needing to be plugged in the Kohler night light uses four AA batteries that will run for seven months thanks to the energy efficiency of the LEDs based on usage of seven hours a night that are dictated by a timer.
Thankfully, Kolher say in no uncertain terms that the seat is also entirely detachable for cleaning.
